This is a Stimpson Computing Scale with a capacity of weighing up to 30lbs. It has been refurbished and still works, though the mechanism needs to be reattached inside. It is missing it's original measuring tray. The finish is in amazing condition and there are no cracks in the glass.

Walter F. Stimpson, born in 1870 in Michigan, obtained his first patent in1892 for a mechanism to lower the wheels of a grain harvester. He later obtained over 30 patents.
Frustrated by existing mercantile scales that were overly complicated, he went about tooling a new computing scale. Stimpson Computing Scales altered US industry allowing for a more accurate measurement.
Stimpson scales were sensitive enough to weigh small items like envelopes, postage and candy. They were accurate enough to weigh diamonds.
This scale is incredibly heavy and cannot be shipped. It takes two people to lift it.
It is 28" tall.
