This is an absolutely gorgeous Hand Embroidered Quilt Coverlet in the style of a Baltimore Album Quilt featuring floral wreaths, cornucopias and floral bouquets.
Album Quilts date back to the 1840's and started in Baltimore. You can identify these quilts by the use of intricate appliqué patterns, most of which are floral or patriotic. Embroidery was also used. While other colors appear in the pieces, greens and reds are the most common colors found. These quilts were often made for special occasions.
This is a massive quilt in pristine condition with only one stain. The stain has been treated, but is likely set into the quilt for good.
This quilt is a great weight and a large size. It easily covers a Queen Size bed. The quilt is so large, I had trouble getting shots of the entire thing.
