Vesuvian in Italy made a large range of coffee machines from the 1930’s to the 1970’s. This is a 1940's - 1950's design and was used without electricity. It is a solid metal piece, likely alloy. I haven't done much to clean it up, so it may shine up better for you.
There is a small crack in the Bakelite handle. The rubber gasket is still in place, but I haven't tried to make coffee in this (honestly, I don't even know how one would).
Such a gorgeous piece of Mid-Century household equipment.
