Linen is mankind’s oldest woven fabric, dating back over 4000 years. Linen has been produced in Ireland since the 11th century. By the 16thcentury the skill of spinning was a skill that was required to be taught in Ireland and the practice continued to grow in the 17thCentury. In the 18thcentury the Irish’s expert ability to produce quality linen led to export of the goods.
This handkerchief is not quite that old but what makes it unique is it is a brand new, likely mid-century. There are no stains or issues with this handkerchief.
